I wear a couple of different hats at IGG. Aside from being a developer, I am also president of the company. Although this is the “Developers Blog,” I am putting on my operations hat for this post to give a summary of what’s happened in 2010.

From a product standpoint, releasing iBank 4 was by far our biggest accomplishment. As I’ve mentioned earlier, version 4 of iBank resulted in rewriting several core components and it was no simple “bump” from v3. Its success has been tremendous, and we will continue to work hard to keep iBank the best finance app for Mac OS.

The other big release was iBank Mobile 1.2. Although just a dot bump, this version packed numerous new features like searching, QIF export and significant speed boosts. We have iBank Mobile 1.2.1 ready to go, so keep an eye out for it in the App Store soon.

In the middle of the year we did a slight refresh to our website. The homepage received particular attention and ultimately landed us with our “four big icons” theme. And with the release of iBank 4, we updated the look and feel of that section of the website. We’re especially pleased to have added a growing library of iBank tutorial videos.

Company-wise, there have been a few other significant events in 2010. Even during this economic sluggishness we’ve hired three new people, two full-time tech support persons and one half-timer. I should also mention that these are folks in the USA for whom we provide very generous health benefits and other company perks. Look for their profiles in our newsletter in the upcoming months.

Starting in 2011 we will have a new corporate structure. We’ve gone from an LLC (limited liability company) to an “Inc.” So keep an eye out for “IGG Software, Inc.” in future emails and other text on our website. This structural change shouldn’t affect our customers, software or web presence (same URL), and it doesn’t mean we are getting bought out! However, along with this change comes our new logo which you can expect to see being rolled out in early 2011:

We think it is very nice — clean, simple and easy to recognize, yet flexible enough to appear in a variety of media.

We hope that 2011 is as exciting and productive as 2010. It will be hard to beat, but we look forward to trying!

Happy New Year.

Ian

  • Congrats on a great product — iBank 4, which I just discovered today. I love it. After being stuck with Quicken for a long time, iBank 4 is a welcome change. I’m glad I found it!

Happy New Year, and again, congrats on a great product.

  • That is one bitchin’ logo ! The artist who designed it for you deserves a paid vacation to Kawaii. Looking forward to trying out your software. Happy New Year…

  • Hi, just discovered your products, doing a great job. Question, can we expect an ipad product soon? Just got one for christmas and I can’t wait to give a try with your product. Thanks

  • Ian, I can’t tell you how many longtime Quicken users are rooting for you, but it has to be in the many thousands. Many of us who participated in Intuit’s long beta development process that resulted in Quicken Essentials were severely disappointed with the end result. And as a result, many Quicken users like me vowed to move on as soon as we could find a better product offered by a company that actually listens to its customers and provides superior customer support.

I am happy to say that IGG and iBank are the answer for me. After many months of testing various competitor products, I am now an iBank customer. Thanks for doing a great job, building a great company and a great product. There are many members of the Macintosh community who are rooting for IGG to become the dominant player in the personal financial management game. Keep up the good work! All the best…
