iBank Mobile: the Home Stretch
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009We’re still recovering from Macworld, where we announced the forthcoming releases of iBiz 4 (a full-version upgrade) and iBank Mobile (our all-new native iPhone app). These are both due out by the end of this quarter.
We got a lot of feedback from folks attending the show — it’s great to have direct input from customers, and to hear the wishlists of future customers too. The requests we heard most often were, “Please allow syncing without MobileMe,” and “Please allow more than one iPhone to sync with the same iBank data.”
Consider it done: both of these are features you’ll find in iBank Mobile, in large part because of the comments we’ve had on the blog and the user forums. Hearing these reinforced at Macworld affirmed that we’re on the right track in delivering the iPhone app you’ve been hoping for. And while iBank Mobile will be available as a stand-alone app, most of you will want to integrate it with your existing iBank data. So the release of iBank Mobile will coincide with an update to iBank 3.5, free of course to current iBank 3 users.
Right now I am working on the last set of features and polishing the UI. We have tested it with about five years of data, including over 7500 transactions. First-time sync is a little slow (about 10 minutes by necessity — somewhat like your initial Time Machine back-up), but I hope to optimize it further. After that, everything is pretty fast. It’s been quite a challenge to support the rich data model of iBank on such a small device but so far it’s turning out rather well.
Thanks,
James
