Can I save my Banktivity Document (data) file on Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc…?

We do not recommend attempting to save Banktivity Document (data) files in folders that sync with services like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. We have seen many instances of corruption from Banktivity users who attempt to store their Banktivity Document (data) file on these services.

The issue is that dropbox can alter the document at any time without the knowledge of the Banktivity application. The error presented in Banktivity looks like this:

If you would like to keep backups of your Banktivity Document (data) file, we recommend using Time Machine for backup purposes.

We also do not recommend using online backup services like Carbonite, CrashPlan, SugarSync, etc… Online backup services like these have been known to cause data corruption in Banktivity Document (data) files. If you would like to save a copy of your Banktivity Document file online for backup purposes, we would recommend using Banktivity’s Cloud Sync feature.

If you would like to share your Banktivity data between multiple users, we recommend using Cloud Sync or a USB flash drive to move your iBank Document (data) file between users.
