No news… is no news.
Here’s a quick update: iBank Mobile is still “in review” at the App Store.
In preparation for the iPhone OS 3.0 launch, we have had to update some things outside of the mobile app: iBank needed an age rating, we needed to accept a new App Store Licensing Agreement, etc. So far, we have had no requests to change the application itself.
When we submitted the application, Apple warned us that it might take longer than usual for approval. They didn’t say it was because of the iPhone OS 3.0 launch, but that’s what we guessed. Meanwhile, we are working with people inside Apple to help us better understand the application status. Please do not send hate mail to Apple. Please don’t hate on us either, even though our timing could have been better.
One final note: we have had people asking if iBank Mobile is U.S. only. We worked hard to make sure that iBank Mobile would be available internationally. This required us to be very careful about how and where we use encryption. So yes, it will be available worldwide at launch, although the only localization is English. We do have plans to add other localizations in the future, but the priority was to make it work, get it out, and get your feedback.
Hang in there – it’s coming.

Do you anticipate any problems from the fact that there’s already two iPhone apps with iBank in their names?
June 19th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
I guess news is better than no news
June 19th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Thanks for the update!
June 19th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I’m so excited!
June 19th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
Great! Thanks for the update. When it is approved, will it just show up in the app store, or do you all have to “release” it? Just curious.

Thanks guys.

BTW–for anyone waiting to pull the trigger….Quicken Financial Life for Mac has ONCE AGAIN been pushed back to Fall 09 release. iBank is fantastic–don’t wait for the stooges at Intuit…I was a Quicken user for years and could not be happier with iBank. A small, but enjoyable, learning curve.

Can you elaborate about encryption a bit more? Does your comment mean some of us may not have it or have it with reduced features?
June 21st, 2009 at 1:10 am
Didn’t get the encryptation thing, too.
June 21st, 2009 at 4:56 pm
There are export restrictions on cryptography. Basically, if your products/software/whatever use encryption and are going to be distributed out side of the US, there are specific rules you have to follow. That’s what they were talking about. It doesn’t mean you “won’t have it” or “will have it reduced” – it just means they had to do some extra gymnastics to make things kosher for international distribution.

I can help with the french localisation if you need.
June 22nd, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Yes, I do know about export restrictions. Since my country is still not on the “rogue state” list and I hope you haven’t invented entirely new crypto algorithm that will require re–evaluation — these restrictions should not apply.
Can there be a statement by IGG Software what exact encryption features are employed once a software will be released? And what kind of protection can be expected?
P.S. By the way, why not use an encryption package that should not be subject to US Customs export regulations? The one like OpenSSL, OpenSSH etc.?

Hi,
it said that the only localization is English. Can i hope to see one day ibank mobile in french??
June 23rd, 2009 at 9:07 am
We plan to add French localization for a future release.
June 23rd, 2009 at 9:19 am
Great !!!
Thanks for that. Is it possible to be more accurate? I know i ask a lot, but i’m so waiting for it !
June 25th, 2009 at 6:57 am
Anything yet? I’ve been checking the App store for the past 3 weeks waiting for this.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:02 am
Can’t find anything on the South African ITunes site (or any of the other non-US sites). Finding out about the availability of this app has been a bit of a mission. Hope there is a large headline on the IGGSoftware site when it happens.

why is it so long ?!! The review at the App Store is never so long. Please give us some news.
June 26th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
I check every day, most hours. When, oh when will this vital app arrive?
May I die before entering transactions directly from my iPhone? Maybe is true….
June 26th, 2009 at 12:16 pm
@clemb It took 3-4 weeks for Cha-Ching to get approved and we started emailing Apple hoping for help and it randomly was approved late on a Saturday night.
June 28th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
any news as to approval date?????
June 29th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
COME ON APPLE!!! APPROVE ALREADY!!!
June 29th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
@Ryan: do you have any email adresse to give us. We could write to apple. I’m not talking about hate letters. But we could ask them politely to hurry up on ibank mobile approval.
Thanks
June 29th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Yes, polite “hurry it up already” letters. I would send one. If it was approved already I wonder as to why their delay in getting it posted? C’mon Apple, we are waiting for a decent iPhone financial app that will work with the desktop version.
June 30th, 2009 at 7:13 am
I’ve heard of other situations where an iphone app was approved, however because there is a charge for the app, contracts need to be approved. Contracts are said to take longer to get approved. Could that be the problem?
If anyone has an email address to use, I’d definitely send one. This Friday will be 1 month that the app has been “In Review”.
June 30th, 2009 at 10:25 am
I wish IGG would give us some feedback as to whether they have heard from Apple or not.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:37 am
I looked for about a half hour and couldn’t find where that email is. I know they got the info by DM’ing the apple trailer twitter.
June 30th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
From IGG’s twitter page “Our people inside Apple are asking for expedited approval of iBank Mobile. We’re on it… but no promises yet.”
June 30th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Hi ! I’m living in France.
Could I have iBank Mobile on the French App Store ?
Thanks!
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:46 pm
Coming up on a month, Apple. Seriously.
Mik, good luck getting it in France. We can’t even get Apple to give it to us in the USA.
July 2nd, 2009 at 5:44 pm
Maybe there is a lot fart apps to be approved first… LOL
July 2nd, 2009 at 5:52 pm
This is getting ridiculous..

It’s been a month today!
Happy anniversary submited app…

July 3rd, 2009 at 12:44 pm
OMG. Apple is driving me crazy. Its just a banking application. It should not take this long to get into the app store.
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Ok, I’ve been getting updates for apps I have left and right. Don’t the updates have to go through the same approval process or am I wrong? Shouldn’t new apps go out before updates? My two cents
July 3rd, 2009 at 10:03 pm
Its no longer ridiculous….This is unacceptable.
How does a company make money with an attitude such as apples towards apps? Does everything in California have to take forever? I’m starting to think that the California budget may get done before iBank for the iPhone.
Doesnt it make everyone feel better seeing the volume of approved useless apps on a daily basis?
July 4th, 2009 at 11:11 am
Yeah. My useless fart app was just updated. Get with it apple!!!!
July 5th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
I am hoping the guys at IGG would tell us if apple had contacted them asking for a change in the app. I can understand it taking that long if that’s the case.
July 6th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
I emailed Apple via their App store support page, and I received a reply telling me to contact Developer Relations: devprograms@apple.com about this matter. Just lettting you all know if you’d like to send a friendly email to Apple.
